How did London become an education superpower?

With thousands of expatriates flocking to British universities (this author included) and with tens of thousands more seeking the benefits of a British education overseas in hopes of improving their opportunities, this article sheds some light on the opportunities the system, appropriately implemented, has given Londoners and how it has made for a more educated and vibrant society. Admittedly, the report comes as a surprise – but a welcome one. Do the facts stated in this article indicate that education in London merits more detailed study and perhaps emulation?
